(I have never done a blog or anything like that before, so please bear with me,
I'll have a lot of practice in the next year and a half!)
Hello all!
First of all, I can’t tell you how extremely excited I am to have this opportunity! I only recently found out about the World Race organization, more specifically the Gap Year program. In recent years I’ve made innumerable plans for what I thought I would do after graduating high school, including medical school to become a surgeon, joining the Airforce, going to culinary school to become a chef, travel the world as a photographer, etc. All of these were good options, but I didn’t feel certain about any of them even though I planned down to the smallest details.
I found out about the World Race Gap Year Program after randomly searching “long term mission trips”. When I say random search I mean it seemed random to me, in hindsight it wasn’t random, it was God’s plan for me the whole time 😉 but as I was reading and researching the Gap Year trips, I can’t explain how, but I knew with such certainty that this was what I was going to do.
I’ve been on quite a few missions trips, and I first felt called to missions about 8, maybe 9 years ago. Still, I never considered it when “planning out my future”. I always chose things that I either thought I would have fun doing, such as photography or, like the military or medical field, to serve those around me and “make a difference”. What better combination of serving others and doing what I love than world missions?
As I write this, I am so excited for the relationships, memories, miracles, and transformations that will take place, even before we leave the States and I can’t wait!
Thank you so much for tuning in! 🙂
